The Council for Responsible Sport is driven by a vision of a world where responsibly produced sporting events are the norm. We recognize the influence events have on millions of participants and visitors’ lived experiences. Such power carries great responsibility.

The Council for Responsible Sport has developed a relevant measurement and reporting framework for the sports event sector. The first-ever Responsible Sport Standard for Organizations (version 1) is a collection of standards of good practice that have been thoroughly reviewed and revised through a robust process of stakeholder input and feedback.

Organizations that adopt the new Responsible Sport Standard will demonstrate their leadership towards a world where all events are produced with a greater sense of responsibility and intention for verifiable positive impacts than ever before.

A new playbook for responsible sport organizations

To create the first-ever Responsible Sport Standard for Organizations in the sports event sector, the Council for Responsible Sport led a comprehensive process to collect standards of best practice, put them through intensive review, develop tools in support of meeting the standards, and test them in action.
